4-H Community Clubs

In 29 Los Angeles County communities, children participate in 4-H Community Clubs, which offer a wide variety of hands-on learning projects for children ages 5 to 19.  There are more than 80 projects to choose from, depending on the interests of the kids, including animal care, cooking, photography, marine biology, woodworking and raising guide dogs for the blind.  Community Clubs are led by by adult volunteer "leaders" who organize club activities.  More than 250 4-H leaders help to keep clubs and other events running smoothly.  Youth develop their leadership skills through the 4-H Clubs, becoming club officers, learning to lead meetings, and taking advantage of leadership opportunities, such as the 4-H State Leadership Conference.
