The 4-H Youth Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a federally funded project administered by the University of California Cooperative Extension to provide nutrition education for low-income youth.
Objective
-Provide education for youth in the acquisition and use of nutritious foods
-Contribute to the personal development of low-income youth through improved nutrition
-Contribute to the improvement of the nutrition of the total family by means of educational programs for youth
Target Audience
-Youth ages 2 to 18 in low-income areas
-Youth receiving free or reduced price school breakfast or lunch
-Youth from families receiving food stamps
Curricula & Training
Cooperative Extension provides 1) educational curricula, free of charge, that supports the California Content Standards; 2) interactive 1.5 hour on-site training on curriculum as well as ongoing support throughout the school year; and 3) in-class nutrition/cooking lessons. Our staff will come to your school, church, community center, park or other meeting place to deliver materials.
